Background: Metastatic pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas are orphan neuroendocrine tumors. 50% of these tumors are associated with germline mutations of the SDHB gene. SDHB related pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas and many apparently sporadic tumors exhibit abnormal angiogenesis.
